Today is the start of a new month; and we’re positive you’re planning out what you will do to get into or stay in shape this summer, but today is also a sad day for the bodybar family as we say goodbye to our beloved Michele DeVault.  She’s brought a lot of Joy (and pain – Yikes! She can make you hurt for days) to our studios.

Maybe you’ve taken class from her regularly since the early days of bodybar or maybe you stumbled upon her awesome teaching techniques with Contemporary Pilates in a class she subbed for another trainer (she was always doing that).  If you love to get your butt kicked on a reformer you probably basked in the glory of one of Michele’s classes!

As Director of Operations (and a stellar trainer), Michele brought a lot to bodybar.
Her love of basketball, cracking jokes, and making you sweat until the last second inspire us all to be better athletes.  We asked her for one piece of advice for all her clients before she heads “back home” to Ohio, where her family still lives, as she prepares to start her next adventure.  This is what she had to say:

’Little by little, a little becomes a lot.’  Have fun in your classes and PUSH yourself!! These workouts really do change your body, but only if you push past your limits and work hard each time. If it is not challenging, you’re not breathing hard, sweating or getting to that burn and sustaining the burn for as long as you can, you might as well be down at Starbucks sipping a latte!  Like anything in life, you get out what you put in.

If you know Michele, this speaks to her philosophy in life.  If you weren’t acquainted, don’t be discouraged by how hard she makes it sound. She also shares that anything is possible if you put your mind to it.  These are wise words from a great teacher, friend, and motivator.  We sure will miss her smiling face and upbeat spirit.
