BODYBAR Pilates: Looking Ahead to 2021 and Beyond

They say that hindsight is 20/20. While no one could have predicted this year’s turn of events, what we do know is that there is nothing more important than each other’s health and well-being – and that community is our biggest strength.

At BODYBAR Pilates, we’re not going through the motions – we’re raising the bar. While many other fitness concepts were struggling with client retention at the height of the pandemic-related shutdowns, we were able to retain more than 70% of our system-wide membership revenue. And, despite the year’s challenges, the growth we’ve seen has been exceptional. Even amid the pandemic, we added seven new franchise partners who have signed on to bring 13 new studios to the system. None of this could have been possible without the incredible support of the BODYBAR franchise team, trainers and staff, our passionate franchisees and the powerful micro-communities we’ve built together.

In the spirit of growth, we’ve continued to stretch our corporate support. We’ve strengthened our core executive team with the recent additions of new leadership, including Bill Taylor as Vice President of Franchise Development and Operations, Nancy Baio as Director of Franchise Development and Kyle Engelbrecht as Franchise Training and Development Coach. Each individual possesses unique qualities that will help expand the BODYBAR movement in more communities across the country.

Not to mention, there’s never been a better time to join the movement. It’s no question that fitness—boutique fitness in particular—has already been in an explosive growth phase. The International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) found that boutique fitness is the fastest growing brick-and-mortar exercise category: between 2013 and 2017, membership at boutique studios grew by a whopping 121%. Recent research indicates that the Pilates and yoga studios market in particular, valued at $87,926 million in 2017, is projected to reach $215,811 million by 2025 – growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.7% from 2018 to 2025.

With 2021 just around the corner, we’re looking ahead to fresh possibilities and continued growth. In fact, we’re flexing new franchise agreements in Boston, Atlanta, Salt Lake City and Kansas City, and firming up expansion with new studios slated to open in Keller, Texas and Alpharetta, Georgia in the coming weeks.

Our purpose to provide an environment that is conducive to building communities who love, respect, encourage and motivate one another to be strong, healthy and happy human beings clearly has never been more essential! We’re ready to take the country by storm in 2021 and beyond alongside stellar franchisees looking to invest in a resilient fitness concept like BODYBAR – are you in?
